It was officially released in Circle K gas stations in the United States on May 2nd, 2022 as a permanent flavor, sold in 20-ounce bottles, soda fountains and later as a froster freeze. In April 2022, before its intended May 2nd release, several people have been finding Purple Thunder available on fountain.Īlthough it generally wasn't available for various reasons for most locations, while that was occurring, 20-ounce bottles later had produced in Mid-April, showing that it would be rolling out for its release. ![]() On March 9th, 2022, in a now-deleted r/MountainDew Reddit post, a deleted user named u/South-Conversation33 confirmed that Purple Thunder was confirmed to be a Circle K exclusive flavor and its May 2nd release date. (similar to Thrashed Apple and Overdrive with their design, although this was unjustified at the time.) It then was theorized that it could be a Circle K exclusive flavor due to its design having subtle references to Circle K and Mountain Dew. Later that same day, high-res renders of the same bottle design were found on Smartlabel, confirming the flavor profile to be Berry Plum. On January 18th, 2022, low-quality 20-ounce bottle renders of Purple Thunder were found in the PepsiCo Contact files. Its tagline is " DEW with a Blast of Berry Plum.
